I studied Political Science, US History and completed a semester Urban Studies <br />program in Chicago that gave the opportunity to meet with different constituents and hear their <br />unique concerns. I went on to complete a Masters in African American History at the University <br />of Illinois- Chicago. I have also worked with ethnically and economically diverse populations as <br />an employee in Planned Parenthood clinics, a public librarian, and now as a Human Services <br />Specialist with DSS. I am particularly interested in protecting the most vulnerable in our <br />communities and creating service environments that welcome those who may have intersecting <br />identities such as gender variance and poverty, or disability and ethnic minority status. How can <br />we create spaces that make all feel seen, heard, valued?
