During law school at, North Carolina <br />Central University, public service and social equity were essential components of the case <br />studies and course work required. During each of these experiences I have seen the impact of <br />the economic stress families face in communities around our State and Nation. Additionally, I <br />have worked for more than 10 years with the Orange County Child Support Enforcement Agency <br />as a legal intern and now as one of their attorneys where we deal with the impact of increasing <br />housing costs (both from rent/mortgage costs and utility payments) on both sides of fractured <br />family units. These experiences provide perspective and knowledge which combine real world <br />problems with academic policy concerns. <br />Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br />I believe that housing costs are something that the members of our County share as a challenge <br />of one degree or another. As costs continue to rise, it is important that families of all income <br />levels be welcomed to our community and that housing options be available to serve families of <br />diverse backgrounds and economic statuses. I hope that by service on this advisory board I <br />would be able to provide clear perspectives and information that help our County provide <br />
