DOA-OPT operates 21 vans and 10 buses, using four full-time drivers, 8 part-time drivers, and <br /> volunteers. Clients must request demand-responsive service at least three working days in advance. <br /> Service is provided Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., year round. Routine maintenance of <br /> the vehicles is done by a County Motor Pool,with additional repair work provided by a local repair shop. <br /> An estimated 345,238 miles of client transportation were provided in FY93-94 making 82,648 one-way <br /> passenger trips during the past fiscal year. The total cost of providing client transportation was$461,828 <br /> (including administrative and operating expenses). The agency neither reimburses staff, volunteers or <br /> clients,but does purchase service from other organizations. Organizations which participate in the Orange <br /> County Public Transportation Program on an agreement basis includes the following: <br /> • JOCCA, <br /> • Piedmont Health Services, Inc., <br /> ' Orange Enterprises, Inc., <br /> ' OPC Mental Health - Adult Day Treatment Program, and Children's Learning Center <br /> • Wake Opportunities (Head Start Program), <br /> • Orange County Health Department, <br /> • Orange County Department of Social Services (Medicaid, JOBS and Adult Parenting <br /> Program), <br /> • Cedar Grove Day Care Center. <br /> • Orange County Schools (after school program) <br /> • Orange County Cooperative Extension Service <br /> • Orange County Parks and Recreation <br /> • Orange County Department on Aging <br /> • Orange County Partnership for Young Children (Smart Start Program) and, <br /> • Piedmont HN Health Consortium. <br /> DOA-OPT has some vehicles which are available to be leased on a case-by-case periodic basis; <br /> interested agencies must meet the eligibility requirements to lease vehicles: <br /> • To qualify for leasing vehicles, organizations must be either <br /> -- departments within the Orange County government, <br /> -- other governmental agencies, <br /> -- agencies operating vehicles as members of the OPT program, <br /> organizations funded by Orange County, or <br /> agencies which have a direct relationship to a county department. <br /> -11- <br />
