2 <br /> a <br /> The position's class title needs to be updated to reflect the current duties. Thus, it is <br /> recommended that the RSVP Literacy Coordinator class title be changed to ESL <br /> Coordinator with no salary grade change. <br /> Upon approval of this recommended change,the position will be reassigned to the new <br /> class title of ESL Coordinator. <br /> Librarian Classes <br /> The Library and Personnel have together assessed the work assignments in the library, <br /> the available resources and current position vacancies and have identified ways to focus <br /> the available resources in the areas of greatest need. A major objective for the Orange <br /> County Library is automation of the library collection and circulation. The Library <br /> Director and the Administrative Assistant have been working together carrying out the <br /> duties related to this automation objective. There is currently no one position on staff <br /> responsible for the overall coordination,planning and management of the automation <br /> goal in the Library. The Library finds that it requires a position to develop and manage <br /> library automation. <br /> As a result of this organizational review,the Library has identified the following <br /> changes: <br /> Restructure the Library Assistant Director position as a Librarian <br /> The position of Library Assistant Director will become vacant January 31, 1996. This <br /> position is being restructured to: <br /> - Remove the supervisory duties presently assigned to this position and assign them to <br /> the Library Director. <br /> - Assign overall management of automation of the library collection, circulation and <br /> related electronic systems to this position. <br /> - Retain responsibility in this position as Adult Services Librarian. <br /> - Reassign the Young Adult Services Librarian functions from this position to the <br /> Children's Services Librarian and make that position Youth Services Librarian. <br /> Restructure Vacant Library Assistant I position as Librarian <br /> This position currently is vacant and is being restructured to: <br /> - Assign professional level Inter/Intra Library Loan Services Librarian functions to this <br /> position. <br /> - Assign professional level collection management duties for the video and periodical <br /> Services. <br /> As a result of these organizational changes and the restructuring of work assignments it <br /> was necessary for Personnel to conduct a classification review of the involved positions. <br /> The review included the Library Assistant Director,the Library Assistant I and the two <br />
