DEC-13-1995 1544 TRIANGLE J COG 1 919 $49 93% P.02/07
10 12
TRIANGLE J COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
W o r l d
C 2 a iC S 100 Park Drive.P.Q.Box 12276
Research Triangle Park,NC 27709
! ; 1 919.549.0551 rnx:919.549.9390
MEMORANDUM
TO- Mary Willis,Orange County Planning Department
FROM: Pat Davis,TJCOG
DATE: December 13, 1995
SUBJECT: State-Regulated Water Systems in Orange County
As we discussed,I have been gathering substantial information concerning the
regulated water and wastewater systems located in the sm-county Region J planning
area of North Carolina. A goal of this effort is to develop a comprehensive report on the
type,ownership,size,supply source,location,usage level,and compliance history for
each of these systems. This report will look at the issue of the long-term viability and
desirability of small-scale systems.
I am in the middle stages of this project. To date, most of my efforts have centered
around the water systems in the region. In response to our recent discussion,I have
prepared for Orange County's information and review a preliminary summary
on the water systems located in Orange County. This report includes a table that
provides basic data for each of the regulated water systems in the County. I am now in
the process of working with the public Water Supply Section of the North Carolina
Division of Environmental Health to obtain compliance history and water usage
information for each of these systems. That information, along with detailed location
maps and other data will be analyzed and included in the final report on the region's
water systems.
I hope that this preliminary information is of assistance. Please do not hesitate to
contact me if you have any questions or comments relative to the enclosed materials.
Also,I encourage anyone interested in this issue and proposed report to contact me
with their thoughts and suggestions. My office telephone number is 558.9392.
1 am unable to attend the Orange County Board of Commissioners meeting on
December 18, 1995;however,I would appreciate receiving any information submitted
to the Commissioners regarding this issue.
Patrick Davis,Director,Water Resources
7
I
