Request for Release of Funds TELEPHONE NUMBER <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: To authorize publication of a Notice of Intent to Request <br /> a Release of Funds and execution of the Request for Release of Funds. <br /> BACKGROUND: As a condition of the County' s 1995 CDBG award, the N.C. <br /> Department of Commerce requires that an environmental review be conducted <br /> prior to the expenditure of program funds. County staff has reviewed the <br /> regulations and determined the proposed activities are exempt from the <br /> environmental review process. Therefore, the County can request the <br /> release of funds for this activity utilizing the attached Request for <br /> Release of Funds form. The County is also required to publish a Notice <br /> of Intent to Request a Release of Funds in a newspaper of general <br /> circulation. The notice attached, in a format prescribed by the Division <br /> ofd Community Assistance will accomplish this task. Upon approval, this <br /> notice will be published on or about December 21, 1995 in the Durham <br /> Morning Herald. The public will have a seven (7) day comment period. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Manager recommends authorizing the publication of a Notice of Intent <br /> to Request a Release of Funds in the Durham Morning Herald on or about <br /> December 21, 1995 and authorize the Chair to sign the Request for Release <br /> of Funds on behalf of the Board. <br />
