Approximately 80% of the rural
households use the County's SWCCs and the remaining 20% contract with private waste
haulers. Those citizens that contract for private waste hauling occasionally use the SWCCs
for disposal of bulky waste, white goods, and yard waste. These components of the
residential waste stream are not included as a part of their contracted collection services. All
residents, rural and urban, may also obtain permits for landfill disposal of loads of non-
dumpster compatible residentially-generated wastes such a bulky wastes, furniture, white
goods, yard waste, etc. Orange County pays the tipping fee for disposal of these materials.
Currently, bi-weekly curbside collection of recyclables is provided to approximately
1
Office Location Highway 86 North Hillsborough
