Rooks, III <br /> Northen, Blue, Rooks, Thibaut, <br /> Anderson and Woods, L.L.P. <br /> Attorneys at Law <br /> 100 Europa Drive, Suite 550 <br /> Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27514 <br /> Re: Boyd House, University Manor <br /> Dear Mr. Rooks: <br /> As you may remember, at the k;I•=ric Preservation Commission meeting on September 12 <br /> the Commission appointed a subcommittee to visit the Boyd]`louse and evaluate its condition. <br /> Today I received a verbal report of the subcommittee's findings from Todd Dickinson. <br /> The members of the Commission who mwcwcd the Boyd House found that its supporting <br /> structure and essential facilities such as the kitchen and bathroom had deteriorated to the <br /> extent that restoring or moving the house could be unreasonably costly. The subcommittee <br /> does, however, amirage the developer of University Manor to salvage (or advertise for <br /> salvage) some of the notable interior woodwork such as the hand-carved mantels, vertical <br /> beaded board wainscoting, heartpine flooring, and the Chinese Chippendale staircase and <br /> balustrade. <br /> On behalf of the Historic Preservation Commission, thank you for attending our September <br /> 12 meeting and for making the effort to work with Preservation NC to try 14 donate the Boyd <br /> House.
