Department of Correction <br /> for expansion of the Orange-Chatham Criminal Justice Partnership Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: In April 1995 and July 1995 the Orange-Chatham Criminal Justice <br /> Partnership Program(CJPP) received funding in the amounts of$45,486 and 181,941 <br /> respectively, for the implementation of a multi-county program. The program includes pre-trial <br /> release and substance abuse services for persons sentenced to intermediate sanctions. <br /> In addition to the implementation funding, the CJPP Advisory Board also applied for discretionary <br /> funding; a separate pool of money for disbursement at the discretion of the Secretary of <br /> Correction. These funds are awarded to encourage innovation, collaboration, non jail facility <br /> renovation, and substance abuse programs. <br /> In July 1995, the CJPP Advisory Board submitted a request for discretionary funding and has <br /> received an award of$166,320 effective 10/1/95 through 6/30/96. This funding will be used to <br /> assist in the expansion of Freedom House. <br /> Freedom House, located on Airport Road, currently provides halfway house services for females <br /> only. There are also detox services available for males and females. However, there are no <br /> temporary residential services available for males. Funding from the discretionary allocation will <br />
