Q. What exactly is your "stakeholder" process? What's its purpose? What results do you <br /> expect? <br /> A. LL Gov.Wicker who chairs the Local Government Policy Council appointed the Human Services Task <br /> Force at my request- The task force is working in an advisory role and has three goals: (1) to educate and <br /> inform people about the potential impact of block grants; (2) to try to reach consensus about key <br /> principles that could be used as a basis for developing a block grant plan; and (3) to recommend specific <br /> action steps.That's an ambitious agenda for any group,especially one with as much diversity as it has. <br /> If it achieves only the first of these three goals, it will have been worth the effort. <br /> This bi-partisan task force includes state and local government representatives, families,employers, <br /> nonprofits and others. <br /> There have been two statewide briefings, and the Task Force itself went through a three-day planning <br /> session in August.The Task Force met earlier this week to consider its recommendations. <br /> Pate 5 <br />
