A ' <br /> 192 <br /> 5. Study the feaa'bilily of designating portions of the Eno and Haw Rivers as North Carolina Scenic Rivers <br /> to promote recognition of these critical river resources. The N.C. Scenic Rivers program may provide a <br /> means of recognizing these critical resources without limiting the development potential of riverside <br /> property. <br /> 6. Use the approach employed in the New Hope Creek Corridor Study to protect other strategic stream <br /> corridors as well as wildlife habitats and natural area contained therein. Such stream corridor studies <br /> should result m wildlife corridors and = greenways, unless land owners are agreeable to small-scale <br /> greenway proposals, implemented on an "experimental" or non-permanent "trial basis". <br /> 7. Following implementation of Flexrble Development options, prepare an annual report for the Board of <br /> Commissioners and Planning Board evaluating the impact of such options on natural areas and wildlife <br /> corridors, inhaling an assessment of the possible need for additional strategies as needed. <br /> 8. Support potential connection of Orange County's wildlife corridors with a proposed Triangle-wide system. <br /> Such inter-connectian is important for wildlife movement along mtm4m m corridors across the Triangle <br /> region. <br /> 9. Support the proposed Purchase of Development Rights program,inchrding its use to preserve natural areas, <br /> wildlife corridors, and historic sites in association with farms and forest lands. Use the Land Evaluation <br /> and Site Assessment(LESA) system to rank/compare sites for development rights acgerisition <br /> 10. Pursue local voluntary Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) legislation and direct the Agricultural <br /> Districts Advisory Board to cooperate with regional efforts to protect natural areas, wildlife babitats and <br /> corridors, and histonic/archaeological sites. <br /> Goals & Action Strategies 4 <br />
