ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: March 18, 2008 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 10-a <br />SUBJECT: Durham Technical Community College (DTCC)-Trustee Appointments <br />DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover Interest List <br />Membership Roster INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Letter of Resgination Clerk's Office, 245-2130 <br />Letter from Durham Technical Community <br />College (dated May 9, 2007) <br />Resolution concerning joint property ownership <br />between DTCC and Orange County BOCC <br />Interest List <br />Application(s)/Resume(s) of Person(s) on the <br />PURPOSE: To consider appointing one volunteer to the Durham Technical Community <br />College Board of Trustees. <br />BACKGROUND: At its regular meeting on April 24, 2007 the Durham Technical Community <br />College Board of Trustees adopted the attached resolution for joint property ownership between <br />the DTCC Board of Trustees and the Orange County Board of Commissioners. At that time, <br />the Orange County Board of Commissioners had been invited to appoint up to two members to <br />the DTCC Board of Trustees. Appointments are for four-year terms beginning July 1, 2007. No <br />more than one trustee can be a BOCC member. <br />The Board of County Commissioners appointed Commissioner Moses Carey to the DTCC <br />Board of Trustees on June 12, 2007. However, Commissioner Carey has submitted his <br />resignation, dated January 29, 2008 to the Clerk `s office asking that the Board of <br />Commissioners accept his resignation. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making one appointment to the DTCC Board of Trustees.
