One <br />of the major expenditure categories of the annual operating budget is employee pay and <br />benefits. During tonight's discussion, the Human Resources Director plans to information on <br />the state of Orange County benefits, that includes current and future benefit trends along with a <br />look potential changes for the County's benefit plan. Following the presentation, staff would <br />find it helpful in planning for the upcoming budget year if the Board would dialogue and provide <br />feedback regarding ideas and direction for staff to pursue. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Salaries and benefits comprise just aver 25 percent of the County's total <br />2007-08 budget of $195 million. Staff will provide potential financial impacts of possible <br />changes pursuant to benefit plans that the Board discusses during this work session along with <br />presentation of the 2008-09 budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION{S): The Manager recommends that the Board discuss the County's <br />current and future employee benefits package and provide feedback to staff. <br />
