TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARD <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> June 1, 1995 <br /> CHAPEL HILL'S NORTHWEST AREA PLAN <br /> • Mr.Zaffron suggested that the Town of Carrboro forward to the Town of <br /> Chapel Hilt the text for the Connector Roads Concept Plan along with the <br /> map showing the proposed routes. Also indicate to Chapel Hill that it is the <br /> intent of Carrboro to utilize Eubanks Road as the primary northern area <br /> east-west connector. Therefore,for that reason,the Town of Carrboro would <br /> like to see Eubanks Road improved In their jurisdiction going all the way to <br /> NC 86(Airport Roads Also lncludc in it packet a copy of Carrboro's TIP <br /> requests and encourage Chapel Hill to amend the TIP request to reflect the <br /> same. Finally,forward to Chapel Hill Carrbero's proposal for Homestead <br /> Road as well,which includes preserving the rural character of the road <br /> instead of creating a major urban throughfare. <br /> The TAB also recommended that staff forward to the Torn of Chapel Hill <br /> and the University Land Use Planning Committee the Lake Hogan Farm <br /> buildout proposal and all connectors to the east(Tallyho Trail-dotted line, <br /> Camden,Claymore,and Hogan Easement). <br /> The TAB also suggests to Chapel Hill that an opportunity exists to extend <br /> Weaver Dairy Road southward to connect with Estes Drive as a north-south <br /> connector. Finally,the TAB also recommends that communication be open <br /> between the Towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill,along with open <br /> communication amongst governmental and advisory bodies within each <br /> jurisdiction. <br /> The TAB agreed with the suggestions by consensus; therefore, no formal vote <br /> was taken. <br />
