MO e <br /> The slopes in the Northwest Study Area have been <br /> categorized as follows:: <br /> 0 to 5 % Prime Buildable <br /> 5 to 10 % Secondary Buildable/ <br /> Minor Restrictions <br /> 10 to 15 % Secondary Buildable/Restrictions <br /> (Additional site preparation techniques <br /> that minimize grading and site <br /> disturbance are necessary.) <br /> 15 to 20 % Conserved <br /> (Building and site preparations can <br /> occur, but site restrictions are severe. <br /> These areas require customized <br /> architectural solutions and specialized <br /> site design techniques and <br /> approaches.) <br /> Over 20 % Preserved <br /> (Requires detailed soil, hydrology, <br /> bedrock, and other engineering/ <br /> environmental studies be made to <br /> determine acceptable building and <br /> site engineering techniques.) <br /> Area Summary <br /> The Northwest Study Area is quite unlike the rest <br /> of Chapel Hill in that most of the area contains <br /> slopes of less than 5 percent. <br /> The steeper slopes in the area (5 to 15 percent) <br /> are mainly along the edges of the major streams. <br /> Slopes in excess of 15 percent are extremely <br /> isolated and exist mainly at the intersection of Old <br /> Field Creek and Interstate 40, and at the southeast <br /> corner of the study area. <br /> Page 14 Northwest Small Area Plan <br />
