These rules <br /> contain the legal basis of for the federal-state-local preservation partnership. As <br /> a CLG, Orange County is responsible for the review and approval of National <br /> Register nominations of properties within its jurisdiction. Review and comment <br /> of the National Register nomination must be completed within sixty (60) days of <br /> the nomination's submittal to the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). <br /> Failure to provide comments within the specified 60-day period constitutes <br /> approval of the nomination. Furthermore, the CLG's Historic Preservation <br /> Commission is required to hold a public hearing on the nomination. (See <br /> Attachment 1). <br /> The National Register of Historic Places Registration Form is provided as <br /> Attachment 2. The nominated property,the Alexander Hogan Plantation Site,is <br /> located in Chapel Hill Township within the Blackwood Division of Duke Forest. <br /> The tract lies on the north side of Eubanks Road (SR 1717) at the junction of <br /> Eubanks and Rogers Road (SR 1729). The tract is approximately 12.4 acres and <br /> is currently zoned Rural Buffer. <br /> Located on the property are stone foundations that have been identified as the <br /> location of the main house. A cemetery, believed to contain 24 graves, has also <br /> been identified on the site. <br />
