Mebane -227-2031 <br /> Durham -688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To approve, on second reading, changes to the Animal Control Ordinance to enhance the <br /> prevention of rabies spreading into Orange County by revising the schedule of civil <br /> penalties and redemption fees and attempt to lessen the administrative burden of <br /> enforcement of ordinance. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Board of Commissioners received the proposed changes to the Animal Control <br /> Ordinance at the meeting of September 20, 1995, as a part of the Rabies Prevention <br /> Program Strategy. The absence of full attendance required that the adoption of the <br /> changes be carried over for a second reading at the meeting of October 2, 1995. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the attached changes to <br /> the Animal Control Ordinance regarding fines and <br /> penalties be approved and that the changes go into <br /> affect upon adoption. <br /> .cbc <br />
