Due to <br /> other commitments, I regretfully was unable to be there. <br /> As you are aware, I have committed to the constituents of my district opposition to the proposed site <br /> for the Low Level Waste Site at Holly Springs in Wake County. In this quest, I would like to have <br /> a united stand of all three counties in the district. Wake and Chatham Counties have already <br /> resolved against the proposed site. To complete the united stand, I respectfully request your support <br /> also. <br /> The impact on our district could be catastrophic. The concerns are several. Industry and real estate <br /> could be adversely affected, with the overall economy being degraded. Quality of life considerations <br /> are paramount if our area is to remain as a desired place to live. Transportation of low level waste <br /> through the district could have negative results. And the site has not yet been proven safe without <br /> a massive additional cost to the tax paying public. <br /> No one questions the need of a low level waste site. But it must be safe and it must be <br /> environmentally sound. There is sufficient evidence on hand now that casts serious doubt on putting <br /> the site at Holly Springs.
