DocuSign Envelope ID: BE866E89-1A7E-4ACC-80F3-145CB52C649E
Friday, Feb 20: Sound Impact (two performances, 7th and 8th graders): $1,525.
Attendance population approximately 201-223 students in each performance.
Spring 2015 (date TBD): Charles Pettee, Bluegrass Stomp (6th graders): $500.
Attendance populations approximately 201 students.
All single-grade performances will take place in the auditorium at the school during the
regular school day, to best utilize the students'time and the committee's budget.
Sound Impact will perform its show in February in two performances, one for seventh
graders and another for eighth graders. The attendees represent the cultural diversity of
the school with an approximate 48% to 52% female to male ratio. This trio of female
musicians collaborates with others, while aiming to ignite social change through live
performance. They have performed at schools abroad and at home and focus on how
music can be a powerful community builder and education tool.
Sound Impact contact information is http://www.thesoundimpact.org/
There are videos embedded under "media" on this site that show clips of their
performances.
Charles Pettee will perform one show in the spring semester of 2015. His 2014 fall
performance date had to be rescheduled to the spring. His performance will be for the
6th grade students, with an audience of about 201. The racial composition of the
audience will be as follows: White (48%), Black (13%), Asian (21%), Hispanic (11%)
and Multi (6%). Charles Pettee uses a blend of original and traditional American folk,
bluegrass and Celtic music highlighting the mandolin, guitar, mandola and harmonica.
His show illustrates how Bluegrass music was influenced by music that came to the
U.S. from other parts of the world. This ties into the social studies essential standards
related to cultural values and how environmental, political and social factors create
culture.
Contact information for Charles Pettee, with videos of performances:
http://ww_w.charlespettee.com/
http://www.chariespettee.com/iron-mountain-messengers-tunes.htm
