DocuSign Envelope ID:6368FECC-3C91-49C7-983E-AA65A76D339E
Recording estimate
Rob Musser <rob@,vochor.com> Wed, May 14, 2014 at 10:26 AM
To: Lindsay Leach <Ialflut e.leach @gma il.com>
Hi, Lindsay:
My turn to apologize for the delay.
I talked over your recording situation and instrument combinations with my business partner, Collin, and we came to
the conclusion that it would be best if to do a multitrack setup. The challenge is to get the balance right for each
combination of instruments. With a two-microphone recording we would have to set the position of instruments and
two mics, do a test take to confirm a good balance, then possibly reset and repeat the process until the desired sound
was achieved.
This test-take/reset process would cut into the recording time for all the pieces, and it doesn't allow for any second
guessing later on, if we decide a mix needs a tweak. We would, of course, do a test take at the start of a multitrack
combination, but any tweaking of the sound could be done at a mix definition session following the recording sessions.
In a multitrack session, we would use two mics for the overall room sound, then a mic for each instrument(two for
the piano). We think this arrangement will avoid a "coulda, woulda, shoulda"scenario.
So, our estimate for two 4-hour recording sessions and post-recording follow-up is as follows:
2 4-hour sessieiof multitrack recording @_ $113/hr =$904
3 hours of mix definition at our studio @ $75/hr=$225
1 hour for mixdown of takes previously defined $75/hr=$75
2 hours for editing/mastering of mixdowns into final recording @_$75/hr= $150
C7TAL: $1,354.00
This estimate does not include any post-recording work other than for the production of a final audio master
recording. Issues that may change the above estimate include more (or less)time required for mix definition, and
more editing time if partial takes need to be edited together for a complete take.
I hope this will help your planning. Please let me know if your need any additional information.
Best Regards,
Rob
P.S.: Have you chosen the works you plan to include on the recording? It would be helpful for us if you could provide
that list when it is available. Thanks.
Robert L.
