DocuSign Envelope ID: C65FFCA2-OCAA-4476-9EO3-793FA837F635 <br /> In 2015 the Library Arts Program has as its theme "Community Spotlight"focusing on the <br /> service and involvement of some of our region's residents in pivotal local and global issues. <br /> The first exhibit from mid January through late March 2015 is entitled"Thank You Artists!: <br /> Celebrating members past and present of the Carrboro Branch Library's Art Committee."For over <br /> eighteen years local working artists have served both the Library and the community by selecting, <br /> curating and hanging exhibitions,preparing grant applications and involving over 1700 artists in <br /> this Library's endeavor which has won one national and two state awards.Now this is the turn of <br /> the Library to honor these artists by exhibiting their work. Information on participants is <br /> contained in the envelope attached to this application. <br /> Our second exhibit from late March through mid June 2015 will focus on the art work of people <br /> with disabilities and in particular on the work of artists with autism. This exhibition will be in <br /> conjunction with events at FRANK Gallery celebrating Autism Awareness Month in April,2015. <br /> The Library's exhibition will focus on the work of Greensboro self declared"on the spectrum" <br /> artist, Susan Kermon,whose first major exhibition this is.The show also includes work from <br /> InFocus, a Greensboro based advocacy organization that empowers individuals of varying <br /> abilities who are marginalized by society through many creative endeavors and images by local <br /> artist/advocate Barbara Tyroler who is involved with the Chapel Hill Aquatics Program for <br /> people"on the spectrum".We are hoping to have programming around this exhibition in <br /> conjunction with both the Library and FRANK Gallery. <br /> We are requesting funding to assist with preparing,hanging and publicizing this exhibition and <br /> for programming.Exhibition related information is available in the relevant envelope attached to <br /> this application. This exhibit will be on display at the time of the Community Dinner in <br /> McDougle Cafeteria at which time we expect hundreds of people to see this show. <br /> Our third exhibit from mid June to mid October 2015 is " Food: From Farm to Table" <br /> curated by Art Committee member David Taylor. He writes"The emphasis for this show <br /> will be to illustrate and educate how the food that we eat is grown, distributed, and <br /> prepared. For this exhibition, we will recruit artists with various skills, including plein air <br /> painters, sketchers,photographers, and still life artists. We want to follow the cultivation <br /> and harvest of food at local farms,the presentation of food at farmers markets, its <br /> preparation in restaurant kitchens, and the mouth-watering dishes that result. We would <br /> expect to exhibit banners,photos,paintings, and drawings of various sizes from 15 or 20 <br /> local artists. The exhibit will also include comments from farmers and restauranteurs <br /> about their methods and concern to create and deliver tasty,nutritious food to people who <br /> live in Orange County. We even envision having some recipes to share as part of the <br /> exhibit". <br /> .We are seeking funding for the exhibition for materials,hanging and publicity.Exhibition related <br /> information,resumes, images etc are in the relevant envelope is attached to this application. <br /> Our fourth exhibition from late October 2015 through early January 2016 features the work of <br /> artist and Chapel Hill News journalist Debbie Meyer.In January 2014 she worked in a <br /> chimpanzee asylum in Cameroon,West Africa.As a result of that experience she and a colleague <br /> wrote a children's book about that rescue colony and its impact on the local community.That <br /> book has now been translated into French,with images included in the information packet <br />
