As I was going over the details of the gig with the Cave owner, he told me there may be an artist there named Barbara Barnes that may want to draw your band as you are playing. I was excited to hear this because I had seen other bands posting these cool drawings of themselves at various gigs. As it turned out, Barbara was not at our show, however, later she contacted me about another gig we were having in Chapel Hill, during last year's Festifall event. Our show was on the outside deck of the Dead Mule Club on Franklin Street and Barbara was there to draw us, even after she had been drawing bands all day during Festifall. Her presence turned a great show in to something even more magical. Our audience was very interested in watching her create her art in motion right before their very eyes. Sketch after sketch, she seemed to capture the motion of the band as well as the music.It was a great mixing of two art forms coming together.An amalgam of audio and visual created on the spot. Barbara is doing the music community a great service with her art.It helps expose bands and their music to others that otherwise may have never heard of your band. Her art also serves as great promotion for us, but not only that, it is proudly hanging on my wall. Barbara Barnes live art is a unique and a valuable medium for artists and musicians.
