<br />Key Volunteers <br />And <br />North Carolina Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service <br />Orange County Recipients for 2007 <br />Each year Orange County recognizes its most outstanding community volunteers. The process begins in the late <br />fall when the Planning Committee for the Annual Orange County Key Volunteer Awards Program sends out <br />nomination forms to the non-profit and governmental human services agencies in Orange County. Agencies are <br />asked to nominate an Individual, Group or Business for their outstanding service. <br />All the volunteers nominated are recognized as "Orange County Key Volunteers." Out of those nominated, five <br />volunteers (individuals and groups) are selected by a panel of judges as Orange County recipients of'the N.C. <br />Outstanding Volunteer Awards, formerly the "Governor's Awards <br />Orange County Recipients for 2007 WINNERS OF THE <br />2007 N.C. GOVERNOR'S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER SERVICE <br />The five North Carolina Award winners are: <br />Ana Prothro (Medallion Duke Hospice Ana is truly an advocate for her <br />Winner) hospice patients and is committed to <br /> providing that extra bit of caring that <br /> makes such a difference in her <br /> . patients lives. She is a committed <br /> volunteer and she brings that <br /> commitment to those in need <br /> includin the Latino communit . <br />Carol Gunn Orange County Animal Carol has volunteered at the shelter <br /> Services for over 3 years and is dedicated to <br /> walking the shelter's dogs, no matter <br /> what. She has a heart of gold and is <br /> not only dedicated to the shelter <br /> pets, but is supportive of all of the <br /> em to ees as well. <br />JoAnn Pitz Duke Hospice JoAnn has been a Duke Hospice <br /> volunteer since 2003 and has <br /> consistently and faithfully served her <br /> patients, especially with the <br /> volunteer activity audits. She is truly <br /> a woman of intelligence, strength <br /> and heart. <br />John Mathivet Orange County Habitat for John has volunteered diligently for <br /> Humanity the past 2 years with Habitat and his <br /> attention to detail with the homes <br /> and his desire to produce a quality <br /> home has not gone unnoticed, by <br /> both staff and new homeowners. He <br /> does a great job! <br />
