The Orange County Health Department has received several unanticipated grants from the State. <br /> Additional State revenues,totalling$15,018,provide funds for the Child Health Program(General Fund), <br /> Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program(Grant Projects Fund),and Immunization Action Plan <br /> Program(Grant Projects Fund).No additional County funds are required for the receipt of these monies. <br /> The Child Health Program will receive$905 for expenses associated with the Orange County Child <br /> Fatality Prevention Team(see block#1,page 3). This team reviews all deaths in Orange County of <br /> children under the age of 18. Additional State funds totalling$1,681 have been allocated to Orange <br /> County's Breast and Cervical Cancer program. These additional funds will enable the Department to <br /> screen a minimum of 191 women for breast and cervical cancer. The attached Breast and Cervical <br /> Cancer Program Grant Project Ordinance reflects the receipt of these additional funds. An additional <br /> allocation of$12,432 has been awarded to the County's Immunization Action Plan Program for this fiscal <br /> year. The attached Immunization Action Plan Grant Project Ordinance reflects this award. <br /> Cooperative Extension <br /> 2. Orange County Cooperative Extension Service was recently awarded a Smart Start grant totalling <br /> $17,880. This grant,which does not require County matching funds,will enable staff to work with the <br /> Orange County Coalition for Immunization in promoting childhood immunizations. This grant will <br /> provide an estimated 100 youths'immunizations. The attached Smart Start Grant Project Ordinance <br /> reflects the receipt of these funds. <br /> Contributions to Outside Agencies <br /> 3. Rape Crisis of Orange County has received a Victims of Crime Act(VOCA)grant from the State. This <br /> grant,which totals$29,211, will be used to assist victims of sexual assault. No additional County funds <br /> are required for this agency to receive these funds(see block#3,page 3). <br />
