Grant Request Summary: <br />Arts Program Grant Request: $1000 <br />Total cash Match: $ 1334 <br />Total Organizational Budget 2012 -2013 $500 <br />Cultural Enrichment 2013 - -2014 $1000 <br />2014 -2015 $1000 (tentative) <br />Summary Statement for Proposed Uses of Arts in Education Grant: <br />Josh Cvijanovic, the new band director at Cedar Ridge High School would like to upgrade the audio and <br />recording system in the band room. This is important to the band department as recording systems give <br />students feedback on their performances so that they can improve. The band room currently has a <br />recording system but it is not keen enough to support the improvement needed for this highly talented, <br />motivated, and competitive band department. Mike Beard, an audio engineer, band booster parent, and <br />owner ofJMB Audio- CommericalSound and AV Systems of Hillsborough has agreed to upgrade our system <br />at cost. He did this a few years ago for the Choral Department and that group has benefited greatly from <br />the new equipment. <br />4. Budget Sheet (Attached) <br />5. Arts Program Application Narrative: <br />School Profile <br />Cedar Ridge High School is one of two high schools in the Orange County School System. It is located just <br />south of downtown Hillsborough off of Orange Grove Road. There are 1158 students and 80 certified <br />staff members. The ethnic make -up includes 70% Caucasian, 17% afro - American, 11 Hispanic, 2% Multi- <br />cultural and <1% Asian and Native American. Of these, 70 students are enrolled in band. <br />School Arts Programs <br />At Cedar Ridge High School, cultural arts are promoted and revered. Students are offered electives and <br />opportunities in band, chorus, theatre, improvisational comedy, visual arts, graphics, woodworking, and <br />videography. <br />Of the 70 students enrolled i abnd here are 25 in the Symphonic Band, 52 in the Wind Symphony, 25 in <br />the Jazz Ensemble, 8 in the Pe ssion Ensemble, and 30 in the Cedar Red Wolves Marching Band. <br />Students perform in a variety of concerts and community festivals throughout the year.
