Fikes x2490 <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: To award three housing rehabilitation contracts for the HOME <br /> Housing Rehabilitation Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids <br /> from qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating <br /> in the County' s Housing Rehabilitation Program. Sealed bids <br /> were received from participating contractors on June 26, 1995 <br /> and opened on the same days respectively. Bid results are <br /> attached. <br /> Present program procedures provide that housing rehabilitation <br /> contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Please <br /> note that the lowest bidder for Dwelling #18 and 19, Sanders <br /> Bilt Construction Co. , is a new firm approved to participate in <br /> the Housing Rehabilitation Program. Program policies require <br /> that any new contractor be placed on probationary status <br /> pending the satisfactory completion of at least one <br /> rehabilitation contract. Thus, Dwelling #19 has been awarded <br /> to this contractor and Dwelling #18 has been awarded to the <br /> next lowest bidder. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Manager recommends awarding the following three rehabilitation <br /> contracts: <br /> Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br /> #18 $ 71165 Taylor Home Improvements <br /> #19 $ 5,585 Sanders Bilt Construction Co. <br /> #22 $ 24,080 Taylor Home Improvements <br />
