c) Central Orange Senior Center and SportsPlex Renovations Construction of the 15,000 square foot senior center and the 11,000 square foot renovation of the SportsPlex are on schedule for completion and opening by the end of 2008. Recent membership and financial information from the SportsPlex DO NOT show a decline in usage or revenue as had been anticipated would be the case during the construction period. This speaks well to the efforts of the SportsPlex management, Resolute Building Company (the contractor) and the County to minimize, to the extent possible, the impact on the facility users. The strong effort by the SportsPlex management to keep the membership informed, coupled with the flexibility and consideration demonstrated by the SportsPlex users, is key in the success experienced thus far. Staff will provide any other information at the meeting, and the Boards can discuss this project as necessary. No Attachments d) Durham Technical Community College Satellite Campus Development The first building on the Durham Technical Community College (DTCC) satellite campus is complete. According to DTCC officials, the furnishings and equipment will be staged during the next several weeks, with a grand opening tentatively scheduled early in May 2008. DTCC expects to offer some continuing education classes at the campus prior to offering curriculum classes beginning with the Fall 2008 semester. It is notable the County began paying expenses for the facility in December 2007, approximately three months ahead of the date projected by DTCC for the facility's completion. Annual expenses for which the County will be responsible are estimated at approximately $1 million.
