57
property.
Waddell stated that he would like to have the two
groups of residents meet and come back to the
Planning Board with a recommendation that is
agreeable to both. He asked for a show of hands
from the audience for agreement, and there seemed to
be a majority interested in such a meeting.
Ms. Haas stated that she did not feel the issue is
reconcilable in that discussion has been going on at
least three years. Waddell responded that he really
felt that the two groups could come to a reasonable
compromise that would be an acceptable solution for
both groups. He felt the two groups were not as far
apart as Ms. Haas felt they were.
MOTION: Burklin moved to address the area south of Cates
Creek tonight and the area north of Cates Creek at
the regular January 23, 1995 meeting. Seconded by
Hoecke.
MOTION: 8 in favor.
1 opposed (Brown - felt there was sufficient
information to continue and make a recommendation) .
Burklin asked the status of the discussion on
utility service areas. Collins responded that the
Task Force working on that issue has delineated
three service areas and he located the boundaries on
the map.
Adjournment time was reached.
MOTION: Hoecke moved to extend the meeting ten minutes to
complete the discussion. Seconded by Burklin.
VOTE: 7 in favor.
1 opposed (Brown) .
Burklin stated that he would like for Orange County
and Hillsborough to complete the agreements on
utility service areas and the Rural Character
agreements before moving very aggressively on water
and sewer extension.
Jobsis asked if it is viable to designate the area
EDD if the extension of water and sewer is not
available. Collins responded that he felt it is
developable, but it will be a lower density
development with wells and septic tanks. An
alternative system could be a possibility. If there
is a choice of public water and sewer or alternative
system, the choice would be public water and sewer.
