Mr. Smith responded that it would all <br /> probably be annexed by the Town of Hillsborough <br /> anyway. <br /> Edward Gill, Cornwallis Hills resident, stated he <br /> understood the concerns of the residents along the <br /> strip because they would probably be forced out of <br /> their homes. It is also understandable that they <br /> would like to get the most possible out of their <br /> property if and when they have to sell. He continued <br /> that they would be gone and the people in Cornwallis <br /> Hills would still be there and did not want to be in <br /> the same position as those residents ten years from <br /> now. <br /> James Rippy stated that he had been paying taxes on <br /> his property for fifty-five years and a great deal <br /> of his property is in wetlands. He expressed hope <br /> that it would remain in Primary I so that he could <br /> get some financial benefit in his sunset years. <br /> Juanita Sturdivant, landowner on Old NC 86, stated <br /> agreement with statements made by Ms. Haas and added <br /> the concern that twenty extra feet that will be lost <br /> when NC 86 is widened. She felt that anything less <br /> than Primary I would leave them with very little <br /> land. She agreed with Ms. Haas that she would like <br /> to remain on her property but felt that they would <br /> all be pushed out because of the kind of development <br /> that will be occurring across the road. <br /> Tony Whitaker, Cornwallis Hills resident, stated <br /> that his property adjoins the Primary area. He <br /> expressed lack of understanding for the argument <br /> that the Planning Hoard or the County has an <br /> obligation to make land prices competitive with <br /> those of other landowners. He noted that he would <br /> like for the residents to be able to sell their <br /> property at a fair value. He expressed care and <br /> concern about the use rather than the price. He <br /> expressed support for the letter from the Cornwallis <br /> Hills Homeowners' Association. He expressed support <br /> for Secondary uses for the ,area, because he felt <br /> those uses were the most consistent with what needs <br />
