Waddell , Jr. ,
Chairman,
Orange County Planning Board
6513 Meadow View Road
Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278
Dear Mr . Waddell , Members of the Planning Board :
I am writing to you and members of the Orange County Planning
Board on behalf of the landowners who live on the West side of
Old NC # 86 in the I-40/11-)ld NC Hwy. 86 Development Area recently
incorporated into the Economic Development Schematic Plan as
recommended by the Economic Development Work Group appointed by
the Orange County Commissioners last spring . This action was
taken as result of a petition signed by all the landowners in
this area and constant requests on our part to be included in
the Economic Development Plan.
The Economic Development District Work Group met all through the
summer and into the fall to discuss and decide on a recommendation
to the Commissioners which was presented at the Public Hearing
on November 30 , 1994 , at the County Courthouse over which you
presided . You will recall that the Work Group recommended that
our properties be included in the Primary I Development Area .
Having attended all of the Work Group ' s meetings , we were ex-
tremely pleased with this recommendation.
We were also extremely pleased that the Cornwallis Hills Home-
owners Association supported us for Primary I development as
evidenced by the statement made by Mr. Guy B . Massey, President
of that Association at the Public Hearing. I personally spoke
with Mr . Massey on three occasions after the Public Hearing in an
effort to get our two Homeowners Associations together to discuss
this issue, but , unfortunately, Mr . Massey was going to be out of
town and unable to meet with us . He did assure me, however, that
he would send a letter to you, the Planning Board, stating that
their Association does indeed support our properties for Primary
I development . I trust that he has done this and that you have
that letter in hand at this time .
I would like to list for you the landowners who signed our
original petition and support us in the endeavor .
