15 <br /> Development Areas <br /> Introduction <br /> The purpose of Economic Development Districts is to provide <br /> locations for a wide range of light industrial, distribution,flex <br /> space,office,service, retail,and residential uses. In choosing <br /> the location of such districts,the following major factors were <br /> considered: <br /> 1. Adjacent and with access to an interstate highway by <br /> way of a major arterial or collector street; <br /> } ' r �, 2, Adjacent to rail facilities forthe movement of goods <br /> and which offer transit service potential; <br /> T <br /> J.• � � �k"� � 3. Public wader and sewer service is available or capable <br /> �7� � of being extended;and <br /> 4. Large, buildable tracts are available for development <br /> 1 J N J or division into a range of building site sizes. <br /> Three Economic Development Districts have been established <br /> in Orange County. One is located near the western boundary <br /> of the county where Buckhorn Road crosses Interstates 85 <br /> and 40.Another district is centrally located south of <br /> Hillsborough where Old N.C.
