BACKGROUND: In 1993 the County entered into a lease for the Dickson House in which the Chamber of Commerce proposed to locate their offices as well as operate a Visitors Center. The Chamber of Commerce has since that time,subleased the downstairs area to the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough, who now operates the Visitor's Center. The Chamber offices are located upstairs. The recommended lease renewal includes the following modifications: 1. The lease term shall be from July 1,1995 through June 30,1998;and 2. The Chamber will be responsible for all grounds maintenance (previously they maintained only the area known as"Helen's Garden"). Rent will continue to be assessed at$125 per month. As a reminder, the lease dictates that the County maintain the exterior of the building and major systems within the building(heatlair/electricallplumbing)and the Chamber maintains the interior of the building,including cleaning. The Advisory Committee, which was established in the lease to oversee certain areas associated with the building and its operation,has reviewed the lease renewal terms and conditions and have approved them as presented. RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board approve the lease renewal with the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce,through June 30,1998; and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board.
