The Workstation will be located in the Sheriff's Department. Orange County's needs were identified and specifications were developed by County Staff. Bids were solicited from six vendors. One bidder responded. IBM of Raleigh North Carolina submitted the lowest responsible bid at a cost delivered and installed of $42,564.00. A tabulation of the bids is included. The Workstation will be financed through IBM at a cost of $1,274.00 per month for 36 months. IBM has agreed to extend the bidded price for twelve ( 12) additional months, should the County decide to take advantage and purchase several additional RISC 6000 workstations that are included in the 1995-96 CIP. RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends award of the bid to IBM of Raleigh North Carolina for a total cost of $42,564.00 for an IBM RISC 6000 Workstation, and authorize the subsequent purchase of additional workstations for which funds are allocated in the 1995-96 budget.
