Floor Plan Durham - 688-7331 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> -------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: To receive an update on Project Home Start (the <br /> transitional family housing initiative) from the Emergency <br /> Family Support and Shelter Task Force (EFSSTF) and approve a <br /> lease agreement with the IFC for Project Home Start . <br /> BACKGROUND: On February 6, the Board of Commissioners <br /> requested that the Inter-Faith Council and the Orange-Durham <br /> Coalition for Battered Women return to the Board with a <br /> specific report detailing the progress of Project Home <br /> Start , including a preliminary long-range financial plan, a <br /> lease arrangement between the County and the IFC, and site <br /> plans pertaining to the three acre parcel . <br /> Since February 6 there has been progress in a number of <br /> areas , including the following: <br /> HUD has received and approved all second submission <br /> paperwork, and will give final approval to the Inter-Faith <br /> Council when there is site control (a formal lease) and" <br /> when the balance of the capital funds is in hand. <br /> . The Orange-Durham Coalition for Battered Women has decided <br /> to continue with plans for co-location of a transitional <br /> housing residence for battered women alongside transitional <br /> housing residences for homeless families, rather than <br /> pursue an option for a separate rural location. <br /> . IFC has contracted with Brendan Associates as a consultant <br />
