<br />1 <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date:December 9, 2014 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No.6-c <br />SUBJECT: <br />Contract Renewal for Engineering Services <br />DEPARTMENT:PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N)No <br />Solid Waste Management <br />ATTACHMENT(S):INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />John Roberts,919-245-2318 <br />ContractAmendmentGayle Wilson, 919-968-2885 <br />PURPOSE: <br />To approve a contract amendment to the existing agreement for general engineering <br />and environmental services for theSolid Waste Management Department withDraper Aden <br />Associates, Inc. (hereinafter DAA)for engineering and consulting services for two (2) additional <br />years through December 31, 2016. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />DAAhas been providing engineering and consulting services at theOrange <br />County Landfill since 1991.Ongoing services provided include: <br />1.The preparation oftwo (2) semiannual detection monitoring reports summarizing the <br />chemical analysis of the groundwater. The reports cover groundwater at both the closed <br />Municipal Solid Waste and Construction and Demolition landfills. These reports are <br />forwarded to the Division of Solid Waste Management. <br />2.Assessment and implementation of corrective measures for any possible groundwater and <br />landfill gas issues. <br />3.Other engineering and hydrogeological services that the Countyor state regulatory <br />agenciesmay require. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Sufficient funds to cover anticipated expenditures are available in the <br />approved FY 2014-2015 Solid Waste/Landfill Operations budget.The projected expense for the <br />FY 2014-2015is $115,000-$120,000. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): <br />The Manager recommends that the Board approve the contract <br />amendmentrenewing the agreementwith Draper Aden and Associates, Inc. for engineering <br />services for theSolid Waste Management Department andauthorizethe Chair to sign the Contract <br />Amendment. <br /> <br />
