4 <br />RES-2014-087 <br />ORANGECOUNTYBOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING LOUIS D.RUBIN,JR., <br />A NORTHCAROLINALITERARY HALL OF FAME <br />INDUCTEEFROMORANGECOUNTY <br />WHEREAS <br />, the North Carolina LiteraryHall of Famecelebratesand promotes the richliterary <br />heritage of NorthCarolinabycommemoratingitsleading authors and encouraging the <br />continued flourishing ofgreatliterature;and <br />WHEREAS <br />, the North Carolina LiteraryHallofFamewasestablished under the leadershipofSam <br />Ragan,PoetLaureateand Southern Pines newspaper editor; and <br />WHEREAS <br />, the North Carolina LiteraryHall of Famewas authorized by a Joint Resolution of the <br />North Carolina GeneralAssemblyin July 1993, andformallyestablishedinMay 1996 <br />by a grant from the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resourcesto the North <br />Carolina Writers' Network; and <br />WHEREAS <br />, the North Carolina LiteraryHallofFamehasrecognized Louis D. Rubin, Jr.,whohas <br />significanttiestoOrange County; and <br />WHEREAS <br />,Orange County takes pride initshistoricroleas a centerofartandlearning,andis proud <br />tocelebrate County residentsasexemplarsof the literary community whose words <br />enrich our lives; <br />NOW,THEREFORE <br />, be itresolvedthat the Orange County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />recognizeandcongratulate Louis D.
