As a <br />result of comments made at the hearing, staff was instructed by the Board of County <br />Commissioners (BOCC) to hold a meeting in the community and the public hearing was <br />adjourned to September 8, 2014 (http://oranqecountvnc.gov/occierks/140908.pd f). <br />Staff held a public information meeting about the proposed zoning overlay districts on April 7, <br />2014 at Efland- Cheeks Elementary School. The materials used /presented at the public <br />information meeting are available at- <br />http://orangecountync.gov/planning/includes/Pro. osed flandZoninOve�strict. asp. <br />At the September 8t" Quarterly Public Hearing, the hearing was continued to December 1, 2014 <br />with the expectation that the hearing would be continued again until a March 2015 BOCC <br />meeting date. The extensions of the hearing are occurring to allow time for staff to meet with <br />community members to discuss the proposed overlay districts and to meet requirements that <br />public hearings be continued to a date /time certain. <br />Planning staff has been attending meetings a group of community members have been holding <br />at the Ruritan Club in Efland. In depth discussions about the proposed requirements of the <br />overlay districts have occurred and meetings are likely to continue into early 2015. If the <br />proposed text is changed significantly as a result of these community- sponsored meetings, <br />Planning staff intends to reconvene the Efland- Mebane Small Area Plan Implementation Focus <br />
