1 <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: November 18, 2014 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 4 -b <br />SUBJECT: Resolution of Declaration on Climate Change <br />DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners, PUBLIC HEARING: (Y /N) N <br />Environment, Agriculture, <br />Parks & Recreation (DEAPR) <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Draft Resolution Board of Commissioners <br />What We Can Do Summary Donna Baker, Clerk to the Board, 919- <br />245 -2103 <br />David Stancil, DEAPR, 919 - 245 -2510 <br />PURPOSE: To consider a resolution regarding climate change based on a petition from <br />Commissioner Alice Gordon. <br />BACKGROUND: On October 21, Commissioner Alice Gordon petitioned the Board to consider <br />and adopt a resolution concerning global climate change and identifying ways County residents <br />can take actions to help halt or slow this problem. <br />A resolution has been drafted, after reviewing other similar resolutions adopted by local <br />governments around the United States, toward this end and is presented for Board <br />consideration. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with adoption of the resolution. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize <br />the Chair to sign the resolution. <br />
