Harrison (
Superintendent
REFERENCE: Orange County Board of Education Position on Impact Fees
Based on a motion by Ralph Warren, seconded by Susan Dovenbarger, and approved by a
vote of 6 to 1 (Keith Cook voting against the motion), the Orange County Board of Education has
taken the following position on impact fees:
1 . The Board does not support impact fees as the solution to the school district's
capital needs,
2. The Board opposes an increase to the impact fee,
3. The Board proposes keeping the fees as they presently exist for a year,
during which time alternative mechanisms to address this issue are
considered with a recommendation to broaden the non-residential
tax base, and
4. Encourage the Commissioners to recruit business and industry as a
means of expanding the tax base.
/ha
c: Orange County Board of Education
