From:JIB or Dkk 8lwkoum To.Orange Courrty Commisionars nun:aa rage e or ; ,may Yaa,ix76 Lu t7 e
15
TO: Orange County Commissioners
DATE: May 25,1995
FROM: Jill Blackburn
405 Lyons Road
Chapel Hill,Nc 27514-7632
RE:TONIGHT'S MEETING
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend tonight's meeting. However,I would like to take this
opportunity to relay my feelings about the proposed increase of the impact fees.
Our public school system is in a crisis. As has been discussed many times over the last year by
teachers, taxpayers and school children we'need to desperately get our schools on track Orange
County, the flag ship county of our state should have schools with adequate space for foreign
languages, art and music rooms and adequate daily teaching space. We do not have this at the present
and our children are being taught in"make-do"facilities.
Please help to solve this problem One solution is to increase the impact fees. Of course, this will
not fund the complete cost for building new schools but it WILL help. The slight increase will not
impact the price of new homes to the extent of affordability problems.
Please vote yes for the increase in impact fees.
