BACKGROUND Approved in the 1994-1999 Capital Improvements Plan is a spending plan to draw down additional Public School Building Capital Funds for the renovation project at the Stanford Middle School. This $1.8 million project refurbishes this school, including interior and exterior painting, replacing carpet, repairing drop ceilings, replacing light fixtures, renovating laboratories, as required. The attached application draws down $419,419 of the remaining balance in this fund. As of February, 1995, the County had $478,234 unallocated. With this application, the remaining balance in this account would be $58,815. The application process requires formal requests for funding from both the Board of County Commissioners and the Board of Education of the school system concerned. The Orange County Board of Education approved the application at their meeting on May 16, 1995. RECOMMENDATION The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners approve the application for $419,419 in Public School Building Capital Funds for the C.W. Stanford Renovation project authorize the Chair to sign the application.
