HOUS,UVG <br />Improve access to home ownership and affordable rental <br />housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income <br />residents targeting those who make 50% to 80% of area <br />median income, in addition to those who make 50% and <br />below. <br />Implement a policy that requires developers of new housing to set aside a <br />portion of the development for affordable housing units or requires them to <br />make a contribution to the Orange County Housing Trust Fund. Use the <br />funds to create affordable housing targeted at the market of owners who can <br />afford no more than $75,000.00 to $100,000.00. <br />9 Seek appropriate funding (i.e. CDBG, etc.) to build and develop affordable <br />rental housing owned through the Orange County Housing Trust Fund located <br />near desirable schools, neighborhoods and transportation. <br />• Study the feasibility of redefining for Orange County Government purposes <br />the definition of ""affordable housing" taking into account other cost of living <br />indicators using the Consumer Expenditure Survey. <br />PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY SAFE COADRTNITIES . <br />Provide a community free from physical and mental fear and assault by <br />supporting policies, procedures, regulations, and programs that reduce <br />harassment, intimidation, and violence against any portion of Orange County <br />residents. <br />• Urge state legislators to improve hate crimes laws to increase protection to <br />include unprotected individuals (i.e. women and lesbian, gay, bisexual and <br />transgender people). <br />............................................................................................................................................................................ . ............................................................. ........... <br />ORANGE COUNTY SOCIAL JUSTICE GOAL REPORT Page 15:pf 59 <br />.. .... ............ . ... ..... .. .. ....
