Thom Freeman
From:
Bob Marotto
Sent:
Wednesday, October 22, 2014 6:55 AM
To:
Thom Freeman
Cc:
Donna Baker; michelle .merck.walker @gmail.com; woz300z @yahoo.com
Subject:
Recommendation for Board Vacancy -- Nicole Roth
Thom,
At its last meeting, the Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB), voted unanimously to recommend Nicole
Roth, JD to the BOCC for the vacant animal welfare /animal advocate position on the board. The ASAB
believes Ms. Roth is an excellent fit for this position given her long, broad and intensive involvement with
animals and strong interest in serving on the board. As you can see fiom her application, she has interest and
experience in the area of animal law and has worked in different ways with animal organizations. She and her
family have also rescued numerous animals.
In addition, I would call to the Commissioner's attention that staff is now referring to the position that is vacant
as an animal welfare /animal advocate position. This description accurately reflects the position as it is defined
in the county policy for the ASAB. As I previously noted, it also has the advantage of being inclusive rather
than limiting.
Sincerely,
Bob Marotto
Animal Services Director
On Oct 17, 2014 10 :18 AM, Thorn Freeman <tfrecman cr,orangecountgov> wrote:
To All:
I will be out of the office beginning November 18th and returning December 4th. If you have any Recommendations or
Resolutions pending to fill vacant or expiring Advisory Board positions, the next BOCC meeting still open for
appointments is November 6, 2014. 1 will need to have them in hand by next Friday October 24th in order to get them on
the BOCC agenda for November 6, 2014. The next possibility will be for the BOCC meeting on December 9th which is the
last Regular BOCC meeting of the year.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thom
Thorn Freeman
Assistant to the Clerk
Orange County Board of Commissioners
200 Cameron Street
PO Box 8181
Hillsborough, NC 27278
919 -245 -2125
FAX — 919 -644 -0246
tfreeman&oran etyne._gov
