ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: February 5, 2008 <br />Action Agenda ? <br />Item No. <br />SUBJECT: Change in BOCC Regular Meeting Schedule for 2008 <br />DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT (S): <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Donna Baker, 245-2130 <br />PURPOSE: To consider changes in the County Commissioners' regular meeting calendar for <br />year 2008. <br />BACKGROUND: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40, the Board of County <br />Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or provide a notice of any change in <br />the Regular Meeting Schedule. <br />The Board will consider amending its regular meeting calendar by adopting the attached <br />document: Transfer Station Siting Process: Proposed Schedule for Additional Meetings. <br />There will be additional meetings added as the siting process proceeds forward, and these <br />proposed meetings will be brought forth to the Commissioners in a timely manner to be <br />approved. All meetings will be televised. Public comment will be allowed (total time: 15 <br />minutes, 3 minutes/person) at the end of these additional transfer station siting process <br />meetings <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The current contract with The People's Channel sets forth a cost to the <br />county of $660/meeting at Southern Human Services Center. <br />RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board amend their regular meeting <br />calendar by adopting attached document: Transfer Station Siting Process: Proposed Schedule <br />for Additional Meetings. There will be additional meetings added as the siting process proceeds <br />forward, and these proposed meetings would be brought forth to the Commissioners in a timely <br />manner to be approved.
