Bid Award — Hook Lift Truck for Solid Waste <br /> The Board considered awarding a bid to Freightliner of Austin in Austin, TX for a Hook <br /> Lift Truck at a delivered cost of$193,225 for the Recycling Division of the Solid Waste <br /> Management Department. <br /> Gayle Wilson said they are here tonight for the Board to consider awarding a bid to <br /> Freightliner of Austin in Austin, TX for a Hook Lift Truck at a delivered cost of$193,225 for the <br /> Recycling Division of the Solid Waste Management Department. He said the hook lift truck is <br /> used to serve the recycling compactors at the Walnut Grove Convenient Center, the cardboard <br /> compactors at the landfill, and rigid plastic containers at the convenience centers and drop off <br /> sites. He said Funds were budgeted in current department appropriation and truck being <br /> replaced has over 200,000 miles. He said this is the second and last truck to be purchased by <br /> the recycling division this year. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee seconded by Commissioner Rich for the <br /> Board to award the bid to Freightliner of Austin, 1701 Smith Road, Austin, TX for the purchase <br /> of a Hook Lift Truck at a delivered cost of$193,225. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> b. Oranqe County's Recommendations Reqardinq Goals for Inclusion in the North <br /> Carolina Association of County Commissioners' (NCACC) 2015-16 Leqislative <br /> Goals Packaqe (8:20-8:45) <br /> The Board considered approving a Resolution Detailing Orange County's <br /> Recommendations Regarding Goals for Inclusion in the North Carolina Association of County <br /> Commissioners' (NCACC) 2015-16 Legislative Goals Package and authorizing the Chair to <br /> sign. <br /> Greg Wilder said every two years the North Carolina Association of County <br /> Commissioners (NCACC) organizes a process to develop a legislative goals package. He said <br /> the purpose of the package is to develop a package of legislative goals in preparation for the <br /> next two General Assembly calendar years. <br /> He said the NCACC began the process to develop its 2015-16 Legislative Goals <br /> Package in July 2014. He said, as noted in Attachment 1, North Carolina counties have been <br /> asked to submit proposed legislative goals for consideration for inclusion in the package, with <br /> a submittal deadline of September 19, 2014. <br /> Greg Wilder reviewed the following additional background information from the <br /> abstract: <br /> The County's Legislative Issues Work Group (LIWG), including Commissioners Renee Price <br /> and Earl McKee, County Attorney John Roberts, Staff Attorney Annette Moore, Staff Attorney <br /> James Bryan, and County Manager's Office staff, has recently met. The LIWG developed a <br /> draft resolution for Board consideration that outlines several proposed legislative goals for <br /> inclusion in NCACC's 2015-16 package. The LIWG's draft resolution is provided in Attachment <br /> 2. The Board will likely want to discuss the draft resolution and possibly add to, delete from, <br /> and/or revise the language of the proposed goals included in the draft. <br /> In an effort to assist the Board in considering possible goals to forward to NCACC, a copy of <br />
