Gordon, Earl McKee, Bernadette Pelissier, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Assistant County <br /> Managers Clarence Grier, Cheryl Young and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff <br /> members will be identified appropriately below) <br /> NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br /> AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. <br /> Chair Jacobs called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br /> 1. Additions or Chanqes to the Aqenda <br /> Chair Jacobs reviewed the following items at the Commissioner's places: <br /> - Pink sheet -Additional information for Item 11-a -Animal Services Advisory Board <br /> - Green sheet -Additional information for Item 11-e - Economic Development Advisory <br /> Board <br /> - White sheet - Petition from Commissioner Gordon in reference to "Policies for the <br /> Language Used in County Documents" <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> Chair Jacobs dispensed with the reading of the Public Charge. <br /> 2. Public Comments <br /> a. Matters not on the Printed Aqenda <br /> Don O'Leary said he received email from clerk noting that his request to look into the <br /> fluoride issue in the water would be referred to the Health department. He said this will be <br /> good opportunity to gauge the credibility of the health department. <br /> b. Matters on the Printed Aqenda <br /> (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda <br /> below.) <br /> 3. Petitions by Board Members <br /> Commissioner porosin said at their last Board meeting the Commissioners were <br /> provided with copies of resolutions from the Surry County Board of Commissioners and other <br /> counties arguing that counties in N.C. should not accept the placement of children from across <br /> the border, and that any children placed should not be allowed to enroll in the public schools. <br /> He said these resolutions are unconstitutional, racist, and immoral. He feels it is incumbent <br />
