19
Heidi Perry
I have 2 main reasons: I think Orange County is losing out on a lot of bicycle tourism dollars, and
would like to see that explored. Oregon brings in over $400 million in bicycle tourism dollars, and
the only thing they really have that we don t have is buy -in on both regional and state levels. I
have ridden the Orange County rural roads for over 30 years, and am amazed at how purely
beautiful they remain. My other reason is to share what I have learned from biking around this
country and Canada to make cycling safer for all, and to provide more education.
Conflict of Interest:
Supplemental Questions:
Work Experience: Design and publication of books /technical drawing of charts and maps
has been my profession for the last 20+ years. I have attended most of the Transit Partners meetings over
the last two years. I have also served on the Smith Level Road Task Force, and have
assisted with several bus, bike, and pedestrian activities. I think all of this would be an
asset on this board.
Education: BFA 77 UNC with a concentration in Set Design and technical Theatre,
Architural Drafting degree from Durham Tech, several classes taken over the ears in
subjects renging from sign language to Portugese to computer software (Photoshop,
Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, and Dreamweaver)
Other Comments:
I served on this board and also on the Carrboro Library Task Force in their previous
gatherings.
