Board Comments <br />Commissioner Rich said she stopped by the Rogers Road community center and <br />construction is moving forward, and it is looking good. <br />Commissioner Rich said Community Home Trust fundraiser was a success. <br />Commissioner Rich said the next communications plan meeting will be at the Animal <br />Services building at 8 a.m. <br />Commissioner Gordon noted that the Durham Chapel Hill Carrboro Metropolitan <br />Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) has made changes in their memorandum of <br />understanding, and this is contained in the agenda packet. She said the actual effective date of <br />these changes was July 31, 2014. She said the by -laws were just approved at the last meeting. <br />She said the board is now called the MPO Board, and the staff group is called the Technical <br />Committee. She said there was discussion in this group about the draft 15 -501 corridor study, <br />and the deadline for comments on this project has been extended to September 19tH <br />Commissioner McKee said he attended the Maple View Customer Appreciation Day this <br />past weekend. He said this business is a perfect example of Agricultural Support Enterprises, <br />and it is located in the Rural Buffer. He encouraged people to visit the store in order to get <br />insight for upcoming discussion about Agricultural Support Enterprises in the Rural Buffer. <br />Commissioner Pelissier encouraged all Board members and community members to <br />volunteer for Project Connect. She said this is being held at the Hargraves Community Center <br />on October 9th. <br />Commissioner Pelissier said she and Commissioner McKee will be attending the inter- <br />city trip with the Chamber to Athens, Georgia this upcoming weekend. <br />Commissioner Price said Orange County held a 9/11 ceremony at the Old Courthouse <br />honoring the first responders, and the County was well represented by their Emergency <br />Services. <br />Commissioner Price said Durham Technical Community College is in the midst of <br />strategic planning, and there is a lot of excitement about how the college is spreading. <br />Chair Jacobs said there was another school collaboration meeting today in advance of <br />the September 30th joint meeting. He said there were some interesting facts, including the fact <br />that the school systems had the same number of pupils in 1989, but since then the growth of <br />
