Jr.
Core Business Community
06/30/2017
Chair Jacobs said the Board will await a recommendation for position 6, the "Core
Business Community."
Commissioner Dorosin said the list of applicants does not contain any indication of
whether any of the applicants would be qualified for the Core Business position. He said this
information should be noted.
Steve Brantley said this application is not tailored to the Economic Development
Advisory Board, and it is a blanket application.
Chair Jacobs suggested more clarity be provided for this, including a page outlining
positions on the commission, with descriptions of what skills each position requires. He said
there is little information listed by applicants regarding interest or skills, and he suggested
phone calls to follow up and gather this information.
Commissioner Dorosin said if there are particular requirements that need to be
represented on these boards, they need to be made clear, and it needs to be clear whether the
applicants meet those requirements.
Steve Brantley said the policies and by -laws are listed on line for applicants. He said
the general County application could be amended to specify categories within advisory boards,
and why the applicant is qualified for this.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS
Commissioner Price asked why Durham Tech is not listed on the green sheet.
Steve Brantley said there is no specific reason for this. He said there could be more of
a general education position, rather than specific schools.
Commissioner Price said she would like to consider the addition of Durham Tech.
Chair Jacobs said he has talked with the Manager for more information about this board
to be provided to the Board of County Commissioners. He said this is an important board. He
suggested that at a future meeting Steve Brantley could walk them through the history of this
board, an explanation of the current makeup, and details of current meetings and the way
things are being done.
f. OPC Oversight Board — Appointment
The Board considered making an appointment to the OPC Oversight Board.
A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Dorosin to
appoint:
