Gordon, Earl McKee, Bernadette Pelissier, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Assistant County <br />Managers Clarence Grier, Cheryl Young and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff <br />members will be identified appropriately below) <br />NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br />AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. <br />Chair Jacobs called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br />1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br />Chair Jacobs reviewed the following items at the Commissioner's places: <br />- Pink sheet - Additional information for Item 11 -a - Animal Services Advisory Board <br />- Green sheet - Additional information for Item 11 -e - Economic Development Advisory <br />Board <br />- White sheet - Petition from Commissioner Gordon in reference to "Policies for the <br />Language Used in County Documents" <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />Chair Jacobs dispensed with the reading of the Public Charge. <br />2. Public Comments <br />a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br />Don O'Leary said he received email from clerk noting that his request to look into the <br />fluoride issue in the water would be referred to the Health department. He said this will be good <br />opportunity to gauge the credibility of the health department. <br />b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br />(These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda <br />below.) <br />45 3. Petitions by Board Members <br />46 Commissioner Dorosin said at their last Board meeting the Commissioners were <br />47 provided with copies of resolutions from the Surry County Board of Commissioners and other <br />48 counties arguing that counties in N.C. should not accept the placement of children from across <br />49 the border, and that any children placed should not be allowed to enroll in the public schools. <br />50 He said these resolutions are unconstitutional, racist, and immoral. He feels it is incumbent <br />
